Dear Ms Lim,

My name is Wei Keong, currently undertaking a Hospitality Business degree programme from Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). Through this programme I wish to gain insight into the hospitality industry, gain relevant knowledge and broaden my horizon.

Prior to joining SIT, I graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management, specialising in hotel management. In my last year of polytechnic studies, I have had the pleasure of working as an intern at St. Regis Hotel Singapore. During my time there I was a waiter for a fine dining restaurant named Brassiere Les Saveurs. I was exposed to a multitude of experiences, from delivering quality services to guests and seaming the complex operations that goes on outside of the guests' view. These experiences enhanced my ability to think and act with compassion and empathy, to the best of my ability and understanding the position of others.

Upon graduation I took up a stint as a waiter before enlisting in national service for two years. I was appointed as the section leader, tasked to lead the team in missions, overseeing their welfare and ensuring effective communication between the section and commanders. Right before enrolling in SIT I also worked as a mall concierge for JEM, which served as a refresher course before coming back into the hospitality industry.

I would describe myself as a straightforward person and a team player. However, I am unable to convey my thoughts clearly through words sometimes. In order to address this, I utilise writings and charts to help me get my message across to my audience. Hence, I wish that through this module I will be able to present myself in a clear and concise manner, only using visual aids to help my audience understand complex ideas.

Thank you for taking your time out to read this and I look forward to developing my communication skills with you.

Yours sincerely,

Tan Wei Keong
